CoArt Gallery ....
Was founded in 1998 as a co-operative format gallery of local (Shenandoah Valley and east to Charlottesville) artists to provide a comfortable, affordable location to showcase their art. We have paintings in oil, acrylic and watercolor; print-making; photography; ceramics; sculpture; collage and assemblage.
Within the walls of CoArt is the gallery for the nearby Beverley Street Studio School of Art with rotating invitational exhibits. Many of the artists at CoArt have participated in the excellent classes at BSSS.

Interested in Becoming a CoArt Member?
CoArt Gallery accepts applications on an ongoing basis. Interested artists may submit examples of work with the application form and fee to be considered for membership. Acceptance is competitive and is based on quality of work and availability of space.

What percent of a sale goes to the Gallery?
CoArt takes a 20% commission on artworks sold.
What is the "Featured Artist"?
Each month a different artist has the opportunity to display at the front wall of the Gallery, with excellent visibility from the sidewalk. This wall space is 20 feet length, and an artist may display a complete body of work. Extra publicity is provided. The featured artist can have a opening reception and invite his/her own guests.
CoArt Gallery accepts applications on an ongoing basis. Interested artists may submit examples of work with the application form and fee to be considered for membership. Acceptance is competitive and is based on quality of work and availability of space.

What are my responsibilities as a member?
- As a member of CoArt Gallery you will have one wall space where you will display your artwork. You are encouraged to change your artwork periodically.
- Each member pays a monthly rental fee for the wall space.
- Each member must work two (2) sessions, 4 hours each, every month at the Gallery. These sessions allow the artist to greet the public, make sales, and do other routine maintenance duties.
- Each member must participate on a committee of CoArt Gallery.

After you submit your application, artwork (6 works) and application fee ($20), the Standards Committee will review your work. (The duration of the review procedure depends on the availability of the committee’s volunteer members at that time.)
If accepted, you will be notified as soon as possible. If a gallery space is not available at the time of acceptance, you will be placed on a waiting list; when a space becomes available, you will be contacted.
